Wilsden 26th – 31st December
For the fourth year in a row, St. Matthew’s will be hosting a night shelter for the homeless between Christmas and New Year. The project began as part of St. Matthew’s outreach to the community, but from the beginning it has had enormous support from church members in all four villages. This is an excellent example of the way in which the benefice can work together to further our Christian calling to care for others.
The project is labour intensive, with twenty volunteer slots to be filled for each of the five nights. We need cleaners, catering teams for breakfast and dinner, greeting teams for the evenings and especially volunteers to stay and care for our guests overnight.
If you feel able to volunteer for one of these roles, have a look at the rota on the St. Matthew’s website, www.stmatthewswilsden.org.uk and email David Haigh on firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like more information about the shelter, feel free to ring David on 01535 274225
The night shelter is just one part of Inn Churches’ work to support the homeless and those living on the margins of our society. To learn more about this unique Bradford charity, visit their website at www.innchurches.co.uk

Would you be able to help as part of a working party to remove the rooks nest from the church belfry. We need able bodied men!!
Would be looking at Saturday 3rd or 17th November at 10.00am. Will probably take us a couple of hours.
We have two suits, gloves and masks.
We will probably need to have a bonfire at the back of church to save taking the twigs to the tip.
Please let Robert know if you think you can help.
Wilsden Volunteer Car Scheme
CAN YOU HELP WITH A FEW HOURS OF YOUR TIME?
The Volunteer Car Scheme offers lifts to people who do not have access to their own transport to places such as the Medical Centre, Hospital Outpatients and the Village Hall. The scheme urgently needs more drivers as the demand from users is growing faster than can be met by the present number of drivers. Even if you only can spare a few hours a month this would be extremely helpful. The users of the scheme refund the expenses of the drivers at 45p per mile. While some of our volunteer drivers may do a number of trips a week some can only do an occasional trip a month and we can readily accommodate both. If you can help or want to know more about what is involved please call either Margaret Harrison on 272305 or Peter Allison on 273403. Find below a couple of background documents about the scheme.
