From the 14th July, the Church of England diocese in West Yorkshire & the Dales will be known solely by its official, legal name, The Diocese of Leeds. The Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nick Baines, says, “Since the diocese was created in 2014, we have always legally been the Diocese of Leeds, but we were allowed to informally call ourselves ‘The Diocese of West Yorkshire & the Dales’. The experience of the past two years has shown, however, that having two names for the diocese is too confusing for people both inside and outside the Church”.
Bible Verse of the DayLet love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
405 Lo, he comes with clouds descending
128 Come, thou long expected Jesus
757 Ye servants of the Lord
949 Wait for the Lord
755 Ye holy angels bright
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Jeremiah 33 v 14 to 16
1 Thessalonians 3 v 9 to end
Luke 21 v 25 to 36
Psalm 25 v 1 to 9
O Lord our God, make us watchful and keep us faithful as we await the coming of your Son our Lord; that, when he shall appear, he may not find us sleeping in sin but active in his service and joyful in his praise; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
